The Mars 2020 Perseverance rover has 6 wheels made of aluminum with titanium spokes.  Each wheel has a diameter of 52.5 centimeters (20.7 inches). The wheels have a aggressive thread composed of cleats that help them maintain traction across sandy and rocky terrain and climb over obstacles up to 40 cm tall. (NASA,2019)  According to Stefan Roschi (n.d.) , Perseverance is equipped with brushless DC motor s in its wheels and legs , allowing for the rover to travel 4.2 cm per second, which is a “standout performer” and t he slow pace is energy efficient and consumes less than 200 watts (NASA, 2019). T he   ro ver is also equipped with a "rocker-bogie" system that distributes the weight of the rover equally over its 6 wheels , reduc ing tilt wh ile driving over the uneven Martian terrain for better stability.
